THE WITCH, PATRIARCHY & RECLAMATION…
What do words like Witch, Magic and Coven stir in you?
Perhaps a sense of intrigue, a calling?
Perhaps they feel silly, just things to “play around with” the stuff of stories and fairytales, just nonsense for kids not for grown women who have to make a living, look after their kids, focus on their career, be a grown up!
Maybe it opens a deep knowing, a sense of belonging, a pull from your soul?
For a long time I personally was afraid to claim the word Witch, even though I have known since I was a little girl that this is what I am.
“I still remember making rose water elixirs from the rose bushes in my garden when I was around 7 years old”
But why are so many of us afraid to claim this powerful word. The answer is just that, the power in in the word! It is not US that is fearful of the power, it is those external to ourselves (society, patriarchy) who are afraid of its power!
The story that I had been sold was that no-one would take you seriously - that you will be labelled weird, crazy, not serious, someone who believes in all that “woo woo” crap!
You know what the REAL TRUTH is?
That witches, healers, powerful women, loud, emotional, trailblazers, wealthy women, those who chose to use their unique power as a woman instead of manipulating themselves to fit the role of “woman within patriarchy” have been ridiculed, bullied, silenced and burned for centuries and it continues today!
This narrative is simply a modern day version of silencing, locking away, labelling hysteric, burning!
So I invited you to claim your WITCH and your MAGIC loudly and with pride!
Making this a sirens call to all the other women who are ready to claim it like a woman - to transgress the patriarchy - to honour and use our natural cycles, power, intuition, emotions, creativity and beyond to make real change in the world!
